The ALS Bridge Foundation Launches to Accelerate Access, Innovation, and Hope for the ALS Community.

JUPITER, FL – December 4, 2025 — Today marks the official launch of The ALS Bridge Foundation, a new philanthropic organization dedicated to accelerating ALS research, expanding patient access to clinical trials, and strengthening collaboration between leading ALS centers in the United States and Canada.

Founded by longtime golf industry executive Peter Broome, his family, and a network of close friends and industry leaders, The ALS Bridge Foundation aims to close the critical gap between scientific discovery and patient access — building a “bridge” to faster, more effective treatments for people living with ALS.

Broome, a respected global leader in the golf industry and former Senior Vice President at Acushnet Company (Titleist), was diagnosed with ALS in 2024. Motivated by his personal journey and decades of work in a community renowned for its philanthropy, Broome and his family established the foundation to unite patients, researchers, and supporters behind a mission of meaningful impact.

“ALS moves fast — and so must we,” said Peter Broome, Founder of The ALS Bridge Foundation. “There are remarkable scientific breakthroughs happening, but too many promising treatments don’t make it into human trials because the system is underfunded and under-resourced. Our goal is to build the bridge between research, access, and hope.”

A Strategic Focus on Early-Phase Trials and Access

The ALS Bridge Foundation will direct the majority of its funding toward programs that accelerate early-stage drug development and expand access for patients. Its initial strategic partners include:

• The HEALEY ALS MyMatch Program (USA)

An innovative, AI-driven early-phase trial platform created by the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Massachusetts General Hospital. MyMatch aims to match patients to treatments based on their ALS subtype — dramatically improving the ability to test, measure, and advance promising therapies.

• Access ALS, Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University (Canada)

A leading Canadian initiative focused on expanding diagnostic capabilities, building Centers of Excellence, and accelerating access to early-phase trials. Canada’s regulatory environment enables faster trial initiation, benefiting patients across North America.

Together, these programs form a coordinated North American strategy to speed discovery, improve access, and strengthen global collaboration.

A Board Guided by Leaders in Golf, Business, and Philanthropy

The ALS Bridge Foundation is led by an accomplished Board of Directors, including:

  • Brad Faxon – President & Director
PGA TOUR veteran, NBC/Golf Channel broadcaster, renowned putting coach, and noted philanthropist.

  • Paul Salem – Vice President & Director
Founder of Salem Capital Management, Chairman of MGM Resorts International, and former senior leader at Providence Equity Partners.

  • David Agnew – Treasurer & Director
CEO of RBC Wealth Management Canada, President of Royal Montreal Golf Club, and Board Member of the Golf Canada Foundation.

  • J. Gill Broome – Director
President of Forth Bridge Capital and veteran merchant banker with extensive experience in sports and hospitality.

  • Brad Richards – Director
Two-time Stanley Cup champion, NHL playoff MVP, and philanthropist dedicated to pediatric healthcare and community impact.

  • Peter Broome – Founder
Global golf industry leader, former Senior Vice President at Acushnet Company (Titleist), Trustee of Methodist University, and Board Member of Golf Canada.

“This foundation represents the best of what community can do when it chooses hope over resignation,” said Brad Faxon, President of the Board. “We’re here to support the researchers pushing science forward and the families fighting this disease every day.”

A Community Without Borders

While rooted in Peter Broome’s personal experience and deep ties to the golf community, The ALS Bridge Foundation is committed to serving people living with ALS across North America.

Donors may designate gifts to the Foundation’s General Fund, U.S. Initiatives, or Canadian Initiatives. A portion of all funds is held in reserve to support emerging opportunities identified by the Foundation’s Board and Medical Advisory Council.

To support its mission, the Foundation will also offer a series of priceless experiences through exclusive auctions and sweepstakes, leveraging the strength of the golf and sports communities to generate meaningful funding while offering supporters once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

A Movement of Connection, Compassion, and Cure

The ALS Bridge Foundation reflects a simple but powerful belief: progress happens when people come together.
By connecting leading research institutions, clinical trial networks, and philanthropic communities, the Foundation aims to shorten the path from discovery to treatment — giving patients more time, more options, and more hope.
